ROB BRUYNEN was born in the southern
Netherlands and began playing trumpet
at the age of 8. At 14, he started
improvising and discovering the jazz
trumpet in local bigbands. After
attending Hilversum's Conservatory
in the early 80's (studying classical
and jazz music) he started his
professional career playing lead
trumpet in broadcasting studios and
bands such as Vara`s Danceorchestra,
The Dutch Jazzorchestra, The Sky-
masters, and the Metropole Orchestra.
Since 1986 he has been a member
of the world-renowed WDR Bigband,
winner of 2 Grammy Awards among other
nominations, covering lead and solo
chairs. Rob has performed with top
artists such as The Brecker Brothers,
Quincy Jones, Joe Lovano, Ray Brown,
Maceo Parker, Phil Collins and Joe
Zawinul. For 25 years his trumpet
sound has been heard on over 60 CD's
and various radio and TV broadcasts.
He led his own Bigband BROWNIE SPEAKS
recording the CD FIRST. Rob gladly
shares his musical experiences
through his professorship at the
Conservatory of Maastricht. He is
currently focusing on composing and
arranging which led to the new CD
SPACE FOR ALL with his brand-new
band BROWNIES COLOURS.
