I play on the outstanding trumpets of Hub van Laar.
Hub is a great guy and understands the demands
of the modern trumpetplayer. Hub's trumpets are
eas(y)ier to play, have great sound and intonation
and, they look and feel good, too (she's daily
in my hands, don't forget!!). I'm using the model
"Oiram" trumpet and flugelhorn for my jazz solowork
and a modified regular B1 for my section- and
leadwork in the superb WDR Bigband and studio.

I think experimenting with heavier bottom-valvecaps
and/or mouthpieces can make a big improvement in
your feel of playing and projection. Hub, thanks!

I still love the sound of the good old Bach mouth-
pieces and play their copies made by Kanstul. For
jazzsolos: 7C cup and 10 backbore and for my heavier
section- and leadwork: 7E cup and SA (Schilke)
backbore. I teach jazz- and leadtrumpet at the
Maastricht Conservatory, The Netherlands.
